11:15 Treetop Walk

In the Anykščiai Forest, immortalized in the poetry of Antanas Baranauskas, we will visit the unique Treetop Trail — a spectacular walking route among the treetops. The most impressive section is a viewing bridge built through the forest, offering beautiful views and a chance to experience the peace and tranquility of nature.

The trail begins at Puntukas Stone and winds for approximately 300 metres among the treetops, leading up to a viewing platform 36 metres above the ground.

P.S. Antanas Baranauskas was a Lithuanian bishop and poet who became famous for his poem “Anykščių šilelis” — a hymn to the natural beauty of Lithuania.

13:30 Horse Museum

Anykščiai is home to the only Horse Museum in Lithuania. Discover everything about horses and horse breeding, traditional rural work and craftsmanship, as well as various craft workshops and exhibitions of woodcarvings, all set within a beautifully arranged traditional countryside farmstead.

15:00 Lunch & Šakotis-Making Masterclass

Enjoy a traditional Lithuanian lunch and take part in a Šakotis-making masterclass, where you can learn how this distinctive Lithuanian layered cake is prepared.

18:00 Visit to the Ethnocosmology Museum

The Ethnocosmology Museum is the ONLY MUSEUM OF ITS KIND IN THE WORLD! Its mission is to explore humanity’s connection with the processes of the Universe and the cosmos. At the museum, we will be welcomed by a guide named Valdis and set off to discover OUR OWN CONNECTION WITH THE COSMOS.

Ethnocosmology Museum in Molėtai

In the 1970s, a location was being sought for a new Lithuanian astronomical observatory, as the old Vilnius University Observatory was increasingly affected by the city’s lights, dust, and pollution. Numerous hills far from urban light pollution were explored, and in 1969 a suitable location was selected in the Molėtai district.

The idea of ethnocosmology emerged in the Kaldiņai Hills of the Molėtai district, where several enthusiasts of Lithuanian ethnic culture began studying and exploring the Lithuanian people’s connection with the sky, the Sun, the Moon, and the stars.

This marked the beginning of ethnocosmology — both as a concept and as the foundation for the future museum.

The creation of the museum was a long and challenging process, but in 2008, the first groups of visitors were welcomed.
